New wireless perimeter security technology makes parimeter security a very affordable and attractive option to great many people.

There are several approaches to parimeter security.

Trigger Beam. A two part device with a beam between them. When the beam is broken, the notification is sent. Deer can still trigger it, but wind and clouds won't.

Zone Detection. Multiple motion detection sensors are used and the event counts only when all the sensors go off at about the same time.

Pressure Plates and Mats. Completely different technology, alarm is activated when pressure is applied. Many are weatherproofed (sealed in mats). Can be both wireless as well as hard-wired.

Adding pressure plates outside your bedroom windows is an excellent add-on layer of protection.
